AST stands for the AirSwap Token, which is the membership token of the AirSwap decentralized exchange. It serves as a utility token for professional market makers. The decentralized exchange (or DEX) is a new type of crypto exchange with an AirSwap Token Trader mechanism. Users can trade a number of ERC20 tokens for free on the AirSwap DEX. This is done by using AirSwap Tokens to signal the intention to trade one cryptocurrency (or asset) for another. If another user agrees to the terms, the transaction is executed without the first user having to take the risk of giving custody of their asset to a third party. Transactions are executed in a peer-to-peer fashion using either MetaMask or Ledger wallets. AST is an ERC-20 token supported by MetaMask and Parity wallets as well as MyEtherWallet.
