Bitcoin (BTC) History and Overview

Bitcoin (BTC) History and Overview

Bitcoin is the first and most popular digital currency - a cryptocurrency. It powers a peer-to-peer network for the exchange of value through the use of a decentralized protocol. The idea behind Bitcoin is to have a system where there is no middleman or central authority. The live Bitcoin to EUR conversion is € 52,124.79.

Bitcoin refers to both the software protocol as well as to the digital asset, which goes by the ticker symbol BTC. At its most basic level, Bitcoin is useful for transacting value outside the traditional financial system. You can buy and sell BTC for other cryptos alongside more traditional currencies at crypto exchanges like Binance, Kraken and Bitstamp.

Satoshi Nakamoto, a mysterious person (or group of people), launched Bitcoin in 2009. What sets it apart is that it's completely decentralized, meaning no single entity controls it. Instead, a network of computers, known as miners, maintains and validates transactions.

Bitcoin mining creates new bitcoins in the form of block rewards. The process verifies transactions on the blockchain. Miners earn Bitcoin as a reward for completing "blocks" of verified transactions and adding them to the blockchain.

It has a maximum total supply of 21 million, which means that there can only be 21 million in circulation. However, the number of issued Bitcoins will likely never reach 21 million. That is because of the use of rounding operators in the codebase.

You can break a single Bitcoin down into 100 million tiny pieces called "satoshis." You can store them in a digital wallet. The current price of 1 BTC in EUR is € 52,124.79. But you do not need to buy a whole Bitcoin; you can buy a very small fraction of it.

You can send parts of a Bitcoin to pay for things. You can also trade it for other crypto assets. But when you dig into the technicalities, it's like peeling an onion—layer after layer of complexity.

All Bitcoin transactions happen on a blockchain. Think of it as a public digital ledger that everyone can see but no one can tamper with. Miners are the ones who validate and secure these transactions. They validate transactions by solving complex math problems and receive new bitcoins as a reward for their efforts.

Key Points to Remember

  • Bitcoin was the first big player in the crypto game, and it's still the largest by market value.
  • Unlike traditional money, it exists on a decentralized network called a blockchain.
  • Its value has had a roller-coaster ride, experiencing dramatic ups and downs over the years.
  • Because of the digital asset's success, countless other cryptos have sprung up, increasing the use of blockchain technology.
  • You can buy Bitcoin on several cryptocurrency exchanges.

English:

Currently, if we use probabilities of price increases or decreases based on the Mayer Multiple (Mayer Multiple = 200-day SMA of Bitcoin / Current Bitcoin Price), we can see that if we are not in a bear market, there is a probability of moving upwards between 67% and 85% for

$BTC

Normally probabilities above 80% in bullish markets are enough to think about accumulating more $BTC

However, if we are in a bear market, the probability of moving further down is 69%

1. Market Overview

Following last week's market-wide shakeout, the S&P 500 just posted its best week of 2024, gaining 4.0%. Bitcoin mirrored this move, showing extremely bullish momentum across multiple timeframes. On the weekly chart, $BTC printed a strong reversal candle. This week’s close above this level would confirm a promising setup

Moreover, MicroStrategy has purchased $1.1 billion worth of Bitcoin and is expected to deploy an additional $900 million in the coming days/weeks. On the regulatory front, the SEC is gradually softening its stance on SAB-121, potentially allowing banks to custody Bitcoin—another major catalyst that could unlock significant buying pressure👀

2. ETF Flows

In line with the recent sentiment shift, we saw a strong inflow week for spot Bitcoin ETFs.

  • $BTC ETFs Weekly Flow: +$402.9 million
  • $ETH ETFs Weekly Flow: -$12.9 million

As for Ethereum ETFs, we continue to observe small but steady Grayscale outflows. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming weeks, especially if we experience the much-anticipated altseason at the start of Q4🤔

3. On-Chain Data

  • Coinbase Premium: Positive
  • Exchange Reserves: Extremely Low
  • MVRV Ratio: 1,87 (cycle top usually above 3.7)
  • Open Interest: Low
  • Funding Rates: Low
  • Fear and Greed Index: 39 (Fear)

A key trend we're observing is the combination of mid-term accumulation by sharks and whales, alongside decreasing levels of $BTC on exchanges. This dynamic sets a strong foundation for a potential market rally in the near future👀

It's time to shoot the markets without stopping🔥

I have formulated two new mathematical equations for high volatility and low volatility, which is my latest academic research on how $BTC volatility affects asset volatility and returns.

We will finally be able to identify the assets that perform better than the rest and handle relative risks mathematically without resorting to many risk and return models and metrics that cannot be deeply useful in volatile markets or fluctuating strategies like momentum.

Trust the math, not the people 🍀

What are CAL CML etc..? Also, to me you seem to consider variance which is not stable across time for timeseries. Like beta coefficients i have seen you shared in past. Am i correct?
