Some of the digital assets held through ICONOMI were in the past traded at the HTX exchange. Following sanctions measures adopted by UK government, those assets are temporarily restricted for any kind of transactions by law.
This is a UK regulatory restriction. Every digital assets provider in the UK using that exchange is under the same restriction.
As of 26.08.2026, the involved amount is a very small, single digit, percentage.
Here is how to check in under a minute, if your account is affected.
Deposits, withdrawals, rebalancing and portfolio trades for assets that are not affected by this restriction continue as normal. In this regard, nothing is required from you right now.
Users, whose account is affected, will find a new item in the transaction log of their account named "Restriction of holdings".
If that item is not there, your portfolio has no exposure. Many clients have no exposure at all.
On 26 May 2026, the UK government designated HTX under its Russia sanctions regime and the UK's Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) oversees the implementation of sanctions.
On 23 July 2026, the European Union adopted a similar measure, Council Regulation (EU) 2026/1848, effective 23 August 2026.
ICONOMI held a small portion of client digital assets, mostly altcoins, with HTX for trading purposes. Since the designation of HTX dealing with those assets is restricted until an OFSI licence for the release of the assets is granted.
Every UK-regulated firm holding assets with HTX is under the same restrictions.
Nothing has been sold, written down or transferred. The restricted assets remain your property, stay counted in your total portfolio value, and your performance chart shows no break. What has temporarily changed is access to them.
The restriction affects a very small percentage of total client assets. Individual exposure varies, but for most clients it is less than 2%.
Deposits, withdrawals, rebalancing, trading and portfolio changes continue as normal for every unaffected asset.
Strategy copying and rebalancing continue to operate. If you held a restricted asset inside a Strategy, the restricted portion has been separated.
We cannot tell you when this will be resolved. That sits with regulators, and no timeline has been provided to us yet.
We will be updating this blog article on at least a weekly basis, whether or not there is news. If there is nothing to report, the update will say so. If something material changes in between, you will hear immediately.
1. How do I know if I am affected?
Affected users will find a new item in the transaction log of their account as a "Restriction of holdings". If that item is not there, your portfolio has no exposure.
2. My total portfolio value looks the same. Is the money still there?
Your total is unchanged and still includes the affected assets. Nothing was sold or written down, and they are still yours. What changed is that they cannot currently be moved, sold or withdrawn. Your balance looks the same; part of it is not accessible.
3. Will I get the assets back, and how long will it take?
We have applied for permission from the relevant UK authorities and are waiting for their feedback. At this time, we do not know how long it will take to get the necessary permissions.
4. How much of my money is affected?
As at 26 August 2026, the restriction affects a very small percentage of total client assets. Individual exposure varies so please check on the platform in your transaction log.
5. Are my other assets accessible?
Yes. Deposits, withdrawals, rebalancing, trading and portfolio changes for unaffected assets continue as normal.
6. I got an email stating that I can get access to assets if I share my password. What should I do?
Be alert to fraud. Restriction events attract recovery scams. ICONOMI will never ask for your password, two-factor codes, a payment, or a transfer to a new address in order to release restricted assets. In case you get any such falls requests please report it to our Support and do not respond.
7. Can I still make new deposits?
Yes. Deposits, withdrawals, trading, rebalancing and portfolio changes for new assets continue as normal.
8. How can I identify the transaction on the platform?
Go to Transaction history/log and look for an item named "Restriction of holdings".
9. Am I being charged fees on assets that are restricted?
All fees on affected assets were suspended. The rest of the fees are being charged per our usual terms.
10. I held the affected asset inside a strategy. What happens to it?
The restricted portion has been separated out, and the rest of the strategy continues to operate.
11. Can I still close my account or withdraw everything else?
Withdrawals for unaffected assets continue as normal, while "restricted holdings" can not be withdrawn. This is also why we are unable to close your account in full, till the restriction is in force.
12. I also have an account directly with HTX; what does this mean for me?
This is separate from your ICONOMI account. That is a matter between you and HTX, and we would encourage you to take independent legal advice from a specialist.
13. When will I hear more?
We will be updating this blog article on at least a bi-weekly basis, whether or not there is news. If there is nothing to report, the update will say so. If something material changes in between, we will publish it immediately.
